I like to consider myself as the creative type. I find happiness in doing most things that require me to use my hands and heart. It’s apart of who I am and what makes me up. I thrive when I have some sort of creative project going on. Whether it’s making jewelry, sewing clothes, dancing, or something as simple as drawing and coloring with my son, I need that outlet. It’s apart of how I’m fearfully and wonderfully made.
‘ For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.’ Psalms 139:13-14
I was meditating on those verses the other day, and usually I focus on the being fearfully and wonderfully made part. I mean how amazing is that? That we were all made with admiration and care. That particular day I was chewing on God knitting me in my mother’s womb. I thought about the summer my grandma taught me how to knit. I learned using pencils, then progressed to using knitting needles. Do you know how long it takes to knit something? Well if you don’t know, to me it felt like forever. To this day I’ve never completed a knitting project.
I mean I can’t even complete a scarf but God takes much more time crafting each and every one of us. Not only forming our physical bodies but also compassionately looping our character and personality into the fabric of our being. There’s not a detail that He didn’t think about. In fact God was thinking about you before you were in your mothers womb. In Jeremiah 1:5 God says before I formed you in your mothers womb I knew you…”
This week as you go about your responsibilities and prepare to celebrate the holidays, think about that. You were made with love and care, and there’s no one out here like you. Live convinced!
